Frequently asked questions...
if your question isn't answered on here, pop me a message on Instagram and lets chat!
When should I book in my newborn photoshoot?
I recommend booking once you've had your 20 week scan and you have your expected due date, this gives you plenty of time in advance to make sure there is availability around the date you would like to have. I always try to accommodate everybody's booking but the closer you leave it to the date of your babies arrival the less chance there is for the right availability for you. Early as possible guarantees getting the date you would like.
When is the best time to photograph my newborn?
The sweet spot is around two weeks after birth, they are still in the sleepy and scrunchy phase being at their tiniest selves. I photograph newborns any time from 1-8 weeks so you have plenty of time but as time goes on they become more alert.. After the 8 week mark your baby shoot would fall under the 'family collections' in my packages.
What if I give birth later than my due date?
Do not stress if your baby arrives earlier or later and you wish to amend the date, all you need to do is let me know as soon as baby is here and I can provide flexibility with alternative options for what works for you.
How do I book a shoot with you?
We have plenty of options! The website, which has several pages to put your enquiry and messages, you will receive an email back so please check junk incase it falls there. My Instagram - send a direct message or you can send a message directly to my email address: laurenelisabethphotography@hotmail.com
Do I need to bring outfits for the baby?
I have a newborn wardrobe you can choose from a mixture of rompers, bloomers, baby grows and vests for both boys and girls which are all neutral, as well as wraps for the nappy shots which I always recommend for your babies features to pop. I also have a wardrobe of milestone baby girl dresses, tutus and rompers for the cake smash shoots, I don't supply anything for boys as of yet but I will be adding things in the near future. You are more than welcome to bring anything with you for them to wear, please make sure they are neutral and steer clear of bright colours, logos and heavy patterns.
What if my baby doesn't sleep during the shoot?
I would say 95% of my newborn shoots the baby has slept, I have a very cosy, warm and relaxing studio so I will be sure to settle your baby to sleep during the shoot for the sleepy shots. If your baby is awake for some of the shoot then that is a bonus because we get sleepy and awake photos and I love to capture both.
Do you have to pay the full payment upfront before the shoot takes place?
Your booking is only secured once you have sent across your £50 deposit and had email confirmation from me. The remainder of your payment can be made any time up until the day of the shoot.
Once the shoot has taken place when do we receive our images?
Within two weeks you will receive your viewing gallery, these images are straight from camera and unedited for you to select the ones within your agreed package. Once you have selected them, I will edit and finalise each individual image and the completed gallery will be delivered between 2-3 weeks.
When I receive my gallery and I'm finding it difficult to choose, what do I do?
This is one of the most popular questions as we obviously love all photos of our babies! In the viewing gallery email, it explains what to do if you wish to upgrade to your full gallery or if you would like to purchase individual images so you can keep as many as you like!
I really want sibling photos but I'm worried about my toddler not playing ball
There is nothing for you to worry about, these photos are to capture their personality and character so we have fun, we go with the flow and it is baby and children led. We get the smiles, we get laughter and we get the funny faces nothing is forced.
Milestone shoots, does it always involve a cake? And can parents and siblings be involved?
The milestone shoots usually involve a cake smash but if you don't want that included then it is no problem. I always encourage parents and siblings to get involved in any of the shoots, it is all about the memories and your children absolutely want to see you in the photo when they look back on these precious times.
When do you offer outdoor shoots?
During the spring and summer months every year. April to September. Any of my packages can be done in studio or outdoors during spring and summer.
Are your outdoor shoots in one specific place or are you flexible?
I have my base which is the gorgeous Warwickshire countryside by me, in the fields. I am more than happy to come to you if you have a favourite spot though.
